Red Magic

Pattern: Black Magic from the book Tatting With Visual Patterns by Mary Konior
Thread: (Lizbeth 40, col 644, boysenberry dark)
Technique: shuttle tatting

My second go at this pattern. So much easier now that I have a clue about what I'm doing. The first effort was a real chore in some respects, though when you don't know what you're doing you don't see the mistakes so that makes it easier.

I've not as yet tatted anything for anyone however I work with someone who like to read so I told her I'd make her a bookmark. She likes this pattern but prefers the black version I made before so I'll do this pattern again this week for her. It's odd but I'm a little nervous about it.

It's BEAUTIFULLY done! I love this pattern and tried it a couple months ago, but was lost from the word "go." It's SO nice of you to make another in black for your friend!

I made one in black for my brother when he was in the Navy, and he LOVED it! I have made this pattern a few other times, but the black is still my favorite for this pattern!

I love it so much I use a picture of it as the header for my blog:-)

You have done an EXCELLENT job on this one. I cannot wait to see it in black!

Beautiful work!

I sure know what you mean about the second time... I made this once and it was challenging, to say the least!

Then, for my mom's birthday I tatted the second, which was easier - and like you, I was a tad nervous about it! (Mom reads a lot but is not mad about tatted things!

It's very pretty! I have this book and am looking forward to trying the patterns in it.

I'm half way through the black version in size 40 and have to say that while I like how it looks, I still find black difficult to work with. Doesn't flow as well through the hands.

sewmuchfun4 have you had another stab at this pattern? It's amazing how much easier I find it to read (some) patterns with the more experience I get so maybe it's the same for you.
