Technique: shuttle tatting
An easy pattern to complete as the chains and rings are pretty much the same throughout.
Is it just me or does anyone else find their stitches more or less even depending on which shade being used? A long time ago I used to do cross stitch and stitches were different if you used the colour white which was something to do with the dyeing process, or so I was told.

This motif is so beautiful. My curiosity is getting the better of me though...does it stand up to the "floppy test?"
Hold it up by one petal and see if any of the other look all floppy. Would love to know the answer!

Your tatting looks so nice and even! I think I notice my stitches more depending on what type of thread I use rather than the color, but I am only just beginning to see the differences in threads. I love it when I can see my stitches very clearly - which doesn't happen as often as I'd like!
Isdihara I did what you said and it seemed a little floppy but I think that's to be expected with all the space in the middle of the motif. That being said, I didn't pull my middle chains that tightly as I've been making an effort to loosen up. When I started to learn tatting I was pulling my chains VERY tightly which is why I had a problem with some patterns. Also, I'm snugging the stitches up as I go along rather than waiting till the end of the chain which is what I did at first.
Cindy is there a brand of thread that you think your stitches look best in? I'm interested in trying out some others.
I forgot to say... this pattern is in a book by Jon rather than a free pattern. I think it's well worth the cost (even though I chose the pdf only version) as all the patterns look good. Much better than most of the tatting books I've purchased.

Yes, dye will change the texture of the same thread or fibre. Sometimes a lot!
Often, with wool, when I used to knit I would not choose a colour I really liked because it felt bad, but another colour in the same yarn would be fine!

I'm glad the dye/fibre thing isn't just my imagination.
I'm not sure exactly how consistent my tatting is judging by the pile of part completed items I've had to restart, but I think I'm getting better at noticing when something doesn't look right.
